Many skills that were once taken for granted are in decline, including how to care for and maintain your clothing and other household textiles. While sewing for fashion and fun has regained popularity as a hobby, everyone should know how to take care of garments they wear every day. Fixing what you already own is a great way to save money, and it helps keep clothes out of the landfill. This class series will start from the very basics of hand sewing to teach someone who’s never held a needle and thread to make their favorite fashions last longer, how to remove different kinds of stains and the ideal laundering methods for various fabrics, creative visible mending techniques, and even some basic alteration methods.
Registrants will receive a list of supplies to have on hand and a link to the Zoom meeting before class begins, and have access to handy reference sheets and videos afterward.
