Picture a musical composer.  What comes to mind?  Probably a man with a powdered wig who lived centuries ago. But did you know there are composers living and working today?  In fact, anyone can be a composer… even you!

Summermusik guest composer Marina López presents an interactive talk weaving together a brief walk through history, her artistic process, and a short composition lesson at the end of which audience members will be able to write a short piece. Members of Summermusik will then take turns interpreting your musical creations. You’ll hear your music played out loud!

Don’t read or write music? No problem! This program is designed with non-musicians of all ages in mind. Just bring your creativity and curiosity, and we will provide the paper, colors, and crayons.

Intended audience: non-musicians of all ages, special emphasis on elementary school-aged children.
